A non-denial denial
A very welcome fringe meeting at the Labour conference brought together a survivor of the Holocaust and a former British National Party member - who used to deny that the Holocaust ever happened - to emphasise the importance of education to defeat hatred and prejudice.
The former BNP member has now repented and is promoting a positive message. But what of the BNP itself nowadays - does it acknowledge the historical reality of the Holocaust? Here’s the response from a BNP spokesman:
BNP spokesman Phil Edwards said his party did not have a view on the Holocaust. "It is not part of the BNP to say whether it happened or not," he said. "We live in a democracy and people are free to have any views they want," he said.
Not quite a denial then - more of a non-denial denial.
